Episode 99: December 29 2020 Solo with a Sip of Snoopy
Tuesday Dec 29, 2020
Tuesday Dec 29, 2020
Today, I have Snoopy on the mic as my guest, and she's pulled up to my studio desk with some fake Norwegian Gløgg. The one hundred year old sheepskin that she wants to use for our bedsheet, however, is quite real. True story!
In between some of my random riffing and romance, Snoopy challenges people to go to my YouTube channel and follow my podcast, but only if they like me. That would have been a great clip to use for advertisement, but Snoopy didn't even know the name of my podcast. Terrible.
We talk about Snoopy's rather rough introduction to American job life back in the day when she was a new Norwegian immigrant to the USA. For her first job there, she worked at a health clinic in a Chicago-area ghetto. She quit after about a week. Her her next job was at a funeral home. Listen to her story about how these jobs challenged her usage of the Metric System and the English language, and led her to being escorted out of a Chicago ghetto by the police.
P.S. Snoopy was my technical assistant for this episode, so the sloppy sign-off is her fault. She couldn't reach the button that stops the recording. She has stubby arms.

Episode 98: December 25 2020 Solo Silent Night with John Alan
Friday Dec 25, 2020
Friday Dec 25, 2020
My Snoopy is at work, and the babies are in bed, so I light a salt candle and chat with y'all.
I talk about my Christmas Eve and an almost two-hour conversation with my Ma on the telephone this afternoon, and how we talked about family history. I also reflect on that time when Snoopy and I turned heads at a Federal Courthouse back home.
Merry Christmas to all of my listeners. Be blessed.

Episode 97: December 20 2020 with guest Lauren White
Sunday Dec 20, 2020
Sunday Dec 20, 2020
Lauren White (a.k.a. The Poetic Engineer) is the author of "Sunshine and Whisky" and "Innocently Devious", a poet and an engineer.
Lauren was diagnosed with high-functioning autism just a few days before our conversation. She told me how it all made sense, in a way, and how autism, ADD, ADHD, PTSD, depression and anxiety can be related. We discussed how Lauren's autism manifests itself in her daily life and relationships, and I quizzed her on her writing style.
Please go to Lauren White's website at https://www.thepoeticengineer.com/ to read her blog post about her diagnosis, and to buy her books.

Episode 94: December 9 2020 with guest Doctor Les Jones DBA, MBA, BGS
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Doctor Les Jones is a former police officer and has a Bachelor's in General Studies Concentration, Master's in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Healthcare Information Systems, and a Doctorate in Business Administration and Leadership Concentration. He also breeds English Bulldogs. Les is currently an Adjunct Instructor at Kent State University and and Adjunct Professor at the historically black liberal arts college Knoxville College.
Doctor Les Jones has an inspiring life story. We talk about how he rose from a 1.9 grade point average to a 3.8 average, as he became the first in his family to ever go to college. The road was not paved in silk for Les in any way, either. His childhood was influenced by abuse, neglect and drug abuse in his household, and he was sent away from home at the age of fifteen to go to school alone and basically raise himself.
Please listen and enjoy his story as he tells it to me.
You can read Les's doctoral thesis HERE.
