Episode 68: September 8 2020 Tiffy Tuesday with Tiffany Trautman
Tuesday Sep 08, 2020
Tuesday Sep 08, 2020
I love it when we get off track! That's when you know the conversation is real.
Today, Tiffy wanted to discuss culture differences at universities all across the globe, but we veered off into a very open and candid discussion about racism, xenophobia, PTSD, and our very different personal experiences with both.
You never know exactly what to expect when Tiffy drops by. You only know it's going to be honest.
It's #TiffyTuesday.

Sunday Sep 06, 2020
Sunday Sep 06, 2020
I take the podcast on the road to Horten, Norway to meet up with Zahid Ali. He is one of Norway's most popular stand-up comedians and actors, and is known for his participation in the TV2 show and several films and television shows such as, "Izzat", "Hellfjord" and "Rikets Røst"". He was the source of both controversy and adoration for his hit television series "Jul i Tøyengata". In 2010 Ali received the Brobyggerprisen, a Norwegian prize for building relations between immigrants and Norwegian natives. His work is also about fighting prejudice. Zahid Ali has also toured with his stand-up show "Zahid Ali-live".
We talk about how Zahid, who is of Pakistani descent, gathered some of the most popular comedians in Norway to raise money for relief work in Pakistan after the earthquake disaster in 2004. All of the money raised was donated to the Embassy of Pakistan. Zahid talks about how things got very interesting when he handed over a sack of cash to the Pakistani Ambassador in Norway. We also shared our thoughts sharing the standup stage together, and also our individual experiences as entertainers in Norway.

There are many challenges to entering the market, and we discuss Tiffy's experiences as a single mother and immigrant who wants to earn her piece of the real estate pie. As usual, the conversation is spiced with the humor, wit and language that Tiffy and I cook up when we're in the studio together.

Sunday Aug 30, 2020
Sunday Aug 30, 2020
Rick Kirkham is a freelance journalist who also works for the newspaper Bodø Nu. He and I talk about journalistic integrity, addiction, and the making of the 2006 documentary "TV Junkie", which is taken from thousands of hours of video that Rick originally had filmed for his private video diary. The documentary chronicles an emotional and turbulent period of Rick's life, focusing on the seven years in which he and his family struggled with his addiction to crack cocaine.
He is also featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary "Tiger King", and the 2020 one-hour show "The Truth Behind Joe Exotic: The Rick Kirkham Story" released by the Discovery ID channel.
From me, John Alan,
to my listeners and viewers:
I am a believer in "Enlightenment Through Dialogue". I carefully choose my guests for my show. I do this show because I am looking to learn from people who inspire me, motivate me, or teach me more about the wonders of life. This is my journey as I work to put myself in a better condition and position from which I can help others as well as myself.
Come on home, kick your feet up and join me.
